BELGRADE Head of Belgrade’s technical team Dejan Pavicevic has denied information that Belgrade has agreed to allow Kosovo to get an international country code. Head of Pristina’s team in technical talks with Belgrade Edita Tahiri has stated that Belgrade has agreed to allow Kosovo to get a new international country code. “No agreement on Kosovo’s country code” Pavicevic’s said that “Mrs. Tahiri’s statements often tend to be sensational and are very often far from the truth and reality”. “We discussed many topics in Brussels but nothing has been agreed, Belgrade has not agreed to anything,” he stressed, adding that both sides had presented a series of proposals at the Friday meeting. “As far as the international country code for Kosovo is concerned and our side’s consent to something like that, it did not happen. It is a proposal presented by the Kosovo side,” Pavicevic said and reiterated that according to the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), only recognized countries could get the international code. “This is not about Serbia removing or not removing any obstacles, Kosovo as an unrecognized entity cannot get such a code,” he explained. Pavicevic added only Serbia could get the country code and grant Kosovo the right to temporarily use it but that such a solution had not been discussed. Commenting on the issue of electric power, he said that many things had been discussed. “The primary thing for us is to secure full energy and telecommunication stability of those parts of Kosovo and Metohija that will be a part of a community of Serb municipalities in accordance with the political agreement,” Pavicevic pointed out.
