Serbia needs to find its path and everything depends on it. But as far as Croatia is concerned Serbia is welcome in NATO, Croatian President Ivo Josipovic said. As a fully fledged member of NATO Croatia had its say in adoption of NATO’s new strategy, Zagreb-based daily Jutarnji list reports. Croatian president: Serbia welcome in NATO Josipovic especially pointed out that a concept of collective defense was that way preserved which was important for Croatia. “Croatia has confirmed itself as a new successful NATO member,” he noted. The Croatian president also emphasized that it was important to continue the open door policy which would allow new members to join NATO. According to the new concept, NATO will continue to strengthen security and stability of the Balkans and prepare local countries for Euro-Atlantic integrations, the Croatian daily wrote. Josipovic said that his country was helping and supporting Bosnia-Herzegovina’s integration into NATO and that he was hoping that Macedonia would soon resolve its name dispute with Greece in order to join NATO as soon as possible. He stressed that, as far as Croatia was concerned, Serbia was welcome to join NATO. “Serbia needs to find its path and everything depends on it. But, as far as Croatia is concerned, Serbia is welcome in NATO. Its NATO membership would certainly contribute to strengthening of stability of the entire region,” the Croatian president concluded.
