Opposition DSS and SRS parties' MPs say the government should announce its steps after the incidents in northern Kosovo late on Monday and on Tuesday. Members of the ruling Democratic Party (DS) said the government was doing everything to maintain peace and resolve the problem. Some opposition parties asking for govt. response DS-led coalition group chief Nada Kolundzija said the Serbian government was undertaking all measures, in line with the Constitution, resolutions and declarations, to preserve the peace and safety of the people in Kosovo and Serbia. She said that with its policy on Kosovo, the government was attempting to solve problems without risking a single life or the safety in Kosovo and the region. Slobodan Samardzic of the DSS believes the government should "threaten" not to continue the talks with Pristina in September, until the situation returns to its earlier state. He said the government was only giving statements and not making any moves, while the EU has not reacted and was still studying Pristina's decision. Intelligence, self-defense and civil protection services in northern Kosovo failed to do their job, and the people were forced to come out and stop the movement of the special forces towards the Jarinje crossing themselves, Samardzic said. SRS whip Dragan Todorovic also asked what the Serbian government would do, and called for a parliament session to debate the problem. Todorovic said the arrival of EULEX was the beginning of the end, since the mission has been working to form institutions in Kosovo for three years. "Now the country will be made complete by turning the administrative border into a state border. You started talks on technical issues, and we have now come to takeovers of administrative crossings," Todorovic said. He added that "nobody will believe (ethnic) Albanians made a move without a green light from UNMIK and EULEX." The Serbian parliament (Beta)
