Deputy Prime Minister Bozidar Djelic said that the official Belgrade would make an effort until the last moment to get a "green light" for its candidacy. Two weeks prior to the EU Council of Ministers’ session, where the fate of Serbian candidacy for the membership will be decided, the enlargement remains supported by 26 out of 27 EU countries. "Serbia will make effort for candidacy" "On October 25 in Luxembourg, there will be 26 out of 27 EU countries to support submission of the Serbian candidacy for consideration by the EU Commission. Our delegation will be present and we shall contend until the last moment", Djelic said. Djelic added that the Dutch remained adamant. "I think the Dutch see things clearly. They have one condition and if they see it fulfilled, they promised to be on the forefront of supporting the EU enlargement", Djelic stated. All parties represented in the German Bundestag have urged the federal government of Chancellor Angela Merkel to support Serbia on its way towards European Union and to vote at the forthcoming Council meeting that the Serbian membership candidacy be submitted to the European Commission. At the same time, the Bundestag asked the government to ensure that, before any negotiations for Serbian membership have started, there would be a visible progress in the Kosovo talks.
