Orban, who was in Madrid for the summit of heads of state and government from the ranks of the European People's Party, yesterday on the sidelines of the meetings spoke with Serbian Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic, reports MTI.

Orban was quoted as saying that while "different types of disorder are being registered in the Balkan countries Serbia has become the most stable country in the region thanks to its stable leadership."

Orban stressed the need to make it clear that the European Union understands in the most serious manner the intention of Serbia to join the EU.

"The migrant crisis has shown that if we want to defend ourselves from such an occurrence, then Serbia should be accepted closer and integrated it into the European Union," Orban said.

"Thanks to our good neighborly relations and national interests, Hungary will support Serbia in Brussels," Orban told the M1 broadcaster late on Tuesday.
