Serbian football clubs bow out of Europa League
In front of a crowd of over 20,000 at the Rajko Mitic Stadium, the reigning Serbian football champions proved unable to overcome a crushing 3-0 defeat from the first leg in Italy, especially after Domenico Berardi killed the tie off by putting the visitors in front in the 28th minute.Red Star captain Aleksandar Katai equalized in the 58th minute. Vojvodina Novi Sad also ended their European campaign this season following a 0-0 draw with Dutch side AZ Alkmaar in the away leg of their UEFA Europa League play-off tie on Thursday.
AZ Alkmaar go through to the Europa League thanks to a 3-0 win in the first leg.
