“The tomb is decorated with frescoes of exceptional color quality, while the Monogram of Christ spreads over one meter and contains a wreath of laurel leaves. This is the best preserved site ever found”, Čerškov said.

He said he was unaware that another tomb with the Monogram of Christ painted on the ceiling was ever discovered. “This is the fist time I have see it – the Monogram of Christ, with a symbolic message, ‘Christ is looking at us from the sky’”, Čerškov said.

He said the tomb, sized 2,3 x 2,3 x 2,5 meters was discovered in Ratko Pavlović Street in Niš.

The tomb’s eastern, northern and southern walls are covered with frescoes, while the western wall sustained most damage. “The tomb was never plundered”, Čerškov said, adding it was discovered by chance when the foundations were dug for a private structure and that it lies three meters deep.
