BELGRADE The Democratic Party (DS) on Monday welcomed the start of implementation of the agreement on integrated crossings management. The now opposition party said it also welcomed "the fact that the new government has adopted not only the European path and values from the previous one, but also the policy of resolving issues related to life in Kosovo through dialogue." Noting that the beginning of implementation of the agreement was an important step for Serbia, the Democrats said they welcomed the fact the government "has adopted the policy it previously opposed". The DS adds that resolving open issues in Kosovo is not a shortcut to the EU, rather it is in Serbia's own interest. "This is why instead of making excuses that these obligations are inherited from the previous government, this government must stand by its policy, even more so because it has shown willingness to go beyond what had previously been agreed," the DS said in its release.
