Undisturbed supply of KFOR troops is a condition for continuation of the talks between Belgrade representatives and KFOR commander, B92 has learned. KFOR has requested that a small convoy of vehicles that bring supplies to troops be let through the barricades in northern Kosovo. KFOR sets condition for continued negotiations The four northern Kosovo municipalities emergency headquarters decided to make a concession and let through several KFOR vehicles carrying food, water and fuel, Beta news agency said on Wednesday afternoon. Ministry for Kosovo State Secretary Oliver Ivanovic commented by saying that it was "a chance for negotiations and people will be ready to set up blocks again as soon as the convoy passes through“. Earlier in the day, Belgrade negotiating team head Borislav Stefanovic and Minister for Kosovo Goran Bogdanovic met in Zvecan with local self-government representatives. Stefanovic stated after the meeting that took more than five hours that the talks were still underway and that there “was no full consent at the meeting”. He asked the citizens at the barricades in the village of Rudare near Zvecan to allow KFOR to bring supplies to its base in Leposavic through “alternative routes”. He told the citizens that he had been promised that KFOR would only bring in food, water and fuel which most of the people greeted with an applause. Stefanovic added that letting KFOR convoy through was KFOR Commander Erhard Buhler’s condition to even respond to requests made by the Serbian government officials yesterday. According to him, the Serbian government representatives first talked to northern Kosovo municipal representatives about KFOR’s request but did not manage to reach an agreement. Bogdanovic has also called on Serbs at the barricades to let KFOR convoys through in order to provide an opportunity for negotiations, adding that the government of Serbia supported the request. He stressed that it did not mean that the people should disperse and remove the barricades but that they should let the convoys through and peacefully wait for the results of today's negotiations between Belgrade representatives and the KFOR commander. It is expected that, if conditions are met, the meeting with Buhler will be held around 17:00 CET. KFOR Spokesman Hans-Dieter Wichter has confirmed to B92 that negotiations are the only solution. “There are no deadlines, there never have been nor we plan on setting them. We rely on negotiations and talks. We hope that the Serbian side will give up on roadblocks since the other side has withdrawn ROSU (Regional Operational Support Unit),“ Wichter told B92. He stressed that an agreement was now necessary in order to return the situation to the previous state, “without blockades, that allows freedom of movement and enables people to live together in peace“. In the meantime, additional KFOR troops will arrive in Kosovo in the next two days. A Serb man and his children near one of the barricades (Tanjug)
