President Boris Tadic will call on the PM and the parliamentary speaker to find a way out of the current political crisis. Tadic has announced that he will also most probably call a National Security Council session next Tuesday to consider the security situation in Serbia, “wishing to inform citizens that the situation is completely stable,“ the president’s press department reported. Tadic wants meeting with PM, Speaker He said that the current situation required the utmost responsibility and gravity on the part of all the highest state officials, as well as the stable functioning of all state institutions, the government and the parliament. Tadic said that at the upcoming International Conference in Munich, he would speak about common state policy on Kosovo, and the unacceptability of any kind of independence for Kosovo. “I’ll also speak about security aspects, as well as our position on the EU mission to Kosovo, that can come to the province only within a framework approved by the UN Security Council. That’s my opinion, and it’s the opinion of all Serbian state institutions,“ stressed the president. He said that, parallel to this, in the coming days, it would be necessary for all state institutions to convene again, for each one to assume their share of the responsibility, and for the country to continue functioning in the best possible manner. “There must not be paralysis in any of the institutions’ work, neither in the government, nor in parliament,“ Tadic underlined. The president said that every institution, from the government, parliament, the National Security Council and others, had to carry out their work in line with the Constitution and the law. The Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) leader told B92 that holding snap parliamentary elections in Serbia would “remove the greatest obstacle to its development, which is [Vojislav] Kostunica.” He said that he expected President Boris Tadic to call parliamentary elections, adding that the work of the government over the last year had awoken problems within the country. “How can policies that 2,300,000 people voted for be superceded by policies that no one supports any more?” Jovanovic asked. The LDP leader said that yesterday’s cabinet conference call was shameful, as were the recent arrests of leading Serbian football club officials, adding that this was a picture of an unhappy Serbia. “No one knows any more what the parliamentary majority in Serbia is,” Jovanovic said, complaining that politics in the country had come down to text messages. He said that the LDP was open to negotiate an agreement with the Democratic Party, G17 Plus and the minority parties.
