B92 continues its campaign to raise funds for the purchase of Serbia's first digital mobile mammography unit. Our company is carrying this out in cooperation with the Institute of Oncology, the Ministry of Health and the Institute for Health Care. B92 pushes to buy mobile mammography unit B92 Director and Editor-in-Chief Veran Matic this week announced the initial results which show that so far, a total of RSD 20mn (some EUR 250,000) has been raised – half the sum necessary for the purchase. B92 managed this with generous support from the following companies and institutions: City municipalities Zvezdara and Stari Grad, Victoria Group, AVON, Telenor, Airport Nikola Tesla, Citadel, Banca Intesa, Posta Srbije, Invej, Studio Moderna, Direct Media, Belgrade Business School, Holcim, Big Print. Matic’s participation in the Who Wants to be a Millionaire? Quiz show generated RSD 1.2mn. Breast cancer is the malignant disease with highest incidence in Serbia and one of the main causes of premature death among Serbia's female population. However, early detection provides for over 90 percent chance of recovery, experts say. For this reason, B92 has decided to launch the campaign to buy and hand over a mobile mammography unit to the Institute of Oncology. Mobile mammography units are specialized vehicles with installed devices which allow for checkups on different locations, far from the big cities. This kind of vehicle would be able to visit every town in Serbia, with members of those communities duly informed about this campaign through local media and health care centers. The basic goal of this campaign is therefore to provide Serbian citizens with the possibility to undergo modern medical checkups, particularly those who live in areas far away from the main medical centers. Early detection, lowering of the breast cancer mortality rate, and increased awareness about the importance of regular checkups and annual mammography examination are all among the campaign's goals. B92 is calling on organizations, companies and individuals who can contribute to do so and help us raise the remaining RSD 20mn.
