Kosovo: Serbs protests, columns of cars form, bells toll

Protests over the increase in tax duties by 100 percent on goods from central Serbia, as well as the arrest of four Serbs, began at noon.

According to reports, the protests are taking place on Friday in several Serb communities in Kosovo and Metohija.

The majority of citizens are at the protest in Rudare, where they carry the flags of Serbia and slogans inviting the international community to react. Some of them read, "EU, open your eyes," "Do not starve our children," "We don't want to go to ghettos."

Protests are also held near the cross in the municipality of Zvecan, at the Jarinje (administrative ) crossing in the Leposavic municipality, at the Brnjak crossing, and Zupce in the municipality of Zubin Potok, and took place peacefully, with no incidents reported.

At noon, there were bells on all Orthodox temples rang. This was done with the blessing of the bishop of Raska-Prizren Teodosije, in support of the Serb people.

Ahead of the protests, a kilometers-long column of vehicles was formed at the exit from Kosovska Mitrovica towards Rudare.
