Hungarian director wins "Golden Egg" at Kustendorf festival

The awards ceremony marked the end of the 9th edition of the Kustendorf Film and Music Festival on Wednesday evening.

This year's Golden Egg award went to Hungarian director David Borbas for his movie "Wartburg."

The Silver Egg was given to Basil Khalil for "Ave Maria" (Palestine/France/ Germany) while Maria Guskova of Russia received the Bronze Egg for "The Return of Erkin."

The special jury award was given to Masa Sarovic of Serbia for her film "The City."

The jury included Ethiopian film producer and documentary film director Maji-da Abdi, Serbian philosopher, writer and media theorist Divna Vuksanovic, and film producer from Rome Flaminio Zadra.

Abdi congratulated all authors on their "passion, courage and commitment to make movies and enrich us all."

The festival's founder Emir Kusturica also presented diplomas to 17 young filmmakers who participated in the Competition Program, while the Vilko Filac Award for Best Cinematography was given to Eric Mizrahi for "Ave Maria."
