The decision was made by the Slovak government and at the proposal of Deputy Prime Minister Dusan Caplovic. Serbs in Slovakia granted minority status This means that Serbs in Slovakia have acquired protection through international law and international agreements on the protection of the rights of national minorities, in their activities against discrimination on the grounds of ethnicity, language, religion, political or other beliefs, and social background, Serbian Minister of the Diaspora Srdjan Sreckovic explained. Hungarian, Czech, Polish, Ukrainian, Roma and other communities have the same status in Slovakia, the statement said.
