New probes into privatizations "next week"

Prime Minister Ivica Dačić on Friday announced that "new investigative activities will commence next week" into the cases of dubious privatizations in Serbia.

BELGRADE Prime Minister Ivica Dacic on Friday announced that "new investigative activities will commence next week" into the cases of dubious privatizations in Serbia. Addressing reporters after his meeting with visiting EBRD President Suma Chakrabarti, the prime minister revealed that a team of some 60 Criminal Investigations Police officers had already been formed, tasked with dealing with the cases. He asserted that "uncompromising fight against corruption and organized crime" was his government's priority, and described it as "a very important factor precisely in improving the credibility of the state as a whole, also in front of international financial institutions".
