Head of the EU delegation to Serbia Vincent Degert warned that the number of false asylum seekers from Serbia to the EU countries must be reduced immediately. In that way visa liberalization granted to Serbia's citizens could be preserved, said he. EU rep addresses asylum seekers issue At a round-table entitled, "Monitoring and control of visa-free regime with the EU - national response", Degert welcomed the measures of the Serbian government that tackle the issue, and expressed readiness, on the behalf of the European Commission, to cooperate with the country's authorities in that respect. "I welcome the measures that have been undertaken, but it still remains to be seen to what extent they will affect the number,"Degert said, underlining that concrete and urgent results are required which will prove that the number of asylum seekers has been reduced. "There is no time to waste, and we all have to join forces in defending the good decision made in 2009 - granting of visa liberalization for the citizens of Serbia," Degert told the participants of the meeting.
