Qatar has recognized Kosovo's independence, Albanian language media in Pristina announced on Tuesday. "The Kosovo embassy in New York was officially notified of the decision," a Kosovo Albanian government official was quoted as saying. Qatar recognizes Kosovo as independent Kosovo has been recognized by 73 countries, eight of them last year, the previous being Tuvalu. Kosovo's ethnic Albanians unilaterally declared independence three years ago, with Belgrade rejecting the proclamation. The territory has not been able to join the UN.
