"Kosova will be playing in the UEFA qualifications for the 2022 WC in Qatar."

The only thing Kosova will be playing is when they have a sport called Killing for organs , then they will be number #1 in that category in everything else related to sport they stand no chance.

You can think independence as much as you like, but no EU and no UN recognition.
(sj, 6 January 2011 12:12)

I think you are a little bit confused. EU and UN are not in the business of recognition. That’s the business of individual states.

Yes China and Russia only have to veto in the Security Council and Kosovo is not in the UN. Ask the Palestinians.
(sj, 6 January 2011 12:12)

Yes, and then what ?! Even if we apply Serbia’s Constitution, Kosovo will not be in the UN, anyway !

2011 nothing changes for Kosovo; status quo.
(sj, 6 January 2011 12:12)

Well, as far as status goes, Albanians in Kosovo appear to be happy with the status quo compared to what Serbia’s Constitution offers. If Serbs are happy too, then it’s great. Everybody is happy and we have actually solved the Kosovo-Serbia issue.

How far has Kosovo’s moved since 1999? Not a millimeter – so why are we going to worry as we will keep you in that situations for ever boys. I think you have your dreams and nightmares mixed up. More pain on the way in 2011.
(sj, 6 January 2011 23:31)

Well, first of all, it has achieved the main goal; i.e. Serbia not being in charge (as Serbia itself recognizes when it says that UNMIK is in charge)…

As for how far we've moved since 1999, how about declaring independence for starters and getting rid of your kind forever. That's pretty big in my book.

You had the chance to work with Rugova for 17 years 1990-2007,and you choose to ignore or humiliate him, every chanse you had fisrt Milosevic and latter Kustunica.K-Alb elected Rugova till his death, and what did serbs?Nothing!Just kill his associase Agani, humiliate Rugova's family and ignore the elephant in the middle of the room.
Now that Rugova is dead you suddenly want him back in power?
(Mirel from Albania, 6 January 2011 15:41)

Milosevic saved Rugova's life along with his family from the KLA putting him under protective custody;

Rugova did not come back to Kosovo for a long period of time fearing for his life; he didnt' even stay in Albania during his exile.

Agani was killed by the KLA;

Continue to support the KLA bandits and terrorists like Thaci and more Albanian blood is going to be spilled.

If you want the best for the people of Kosovo, then better don't accuse Marty, and don't defend Thaci and his criminal and corrupt companions. The people in Kosovo would do better with honorable leaders, ministers and presidents, and not some people whose only merits and qualification seems to be having been a former KLA figher.
(Top, 6 January 2011 13:33)
I have said before that I do not believe Thaci is the person to lead Kosovo to a better future. I also have said I do not believe in organ harvesting but mainly based on I do not believe that large a scale operation could have existed in either war torn Kosovo or Albania in 1999. Could 2-3 persons have been kidnapped in the area and their organs sent elsewhere, possible. Throw in 300 others, impossible.
And I agree the leadership needs to come from non KLA leaders, but in history who are the initial leaders of any new govt established by revolutionary means. The 1st US President was General George Washington commander of the Continental Army and labeled a war criminal by the British govt.
Initial support is given to those names which you attribute success of securing your freedom. No country sets up their initial govt with a list of no names.

I critcize Marty because he was given a task, investigate whether the organ harvesting occured, he came back with unsubstantiated allegations and said someone should investigate this.???

The future of Kosovo has 2 options, as a permanent international protectorate(which is unsustainable without a united international approach), or independent country. Can this be achieved in 3 years absolutely not, 10 years possibly, 20 years probably.
Serbia has neither the desire, nor the resources to make Kosovo a viable entity of Serbia. Most of the hardcore posters here envision a Kosovo free of Albanians or with a complacent subserviant Albanian population. Never have I heard any proSerb, yourself included, advocate some type of movement to include the Albanian population into Serbia with guaranteed minority rights and protections similar to the A Plan for Serbs in Kosovo. It is more they can live here as long as they know and respect their position in "Serbian society" If Serbia wants to maintain an ethnically pure society, they have to cut off that part that is no longer Serbian, there is no cleansing it.

I don't see "Judeo-lobotomy" mentioned by anyone except you. The topic was "robot lobotomy".

I know your style and I am familiar with certain behavior patterns. As much as you ignore it for the sake of cheap argument: you just can't attach even an indirect "anti-Semite" moniker on me (or on Luciano or on Ari Gold or on Avi) - without penalty being believed by the rest to be insane. You do regardless (see your words above versus what was said).

Hence I stay firmly at my words regarding both lobotomy and autism.

Ari Gold

pre 13 godina

Wow, I must have struck a nerve.

I care for the welfare of Kosovar Albanians as much as I do for Kosovar Serbs, and Serbs in Kosovo, and Bosniaks, and Albanians in Albania... in fact, I believe everyone should be equal. I'm not gonna say that I know "hundreds" of Kosovar Albanians, but a few went to my high school and they were just as nice and friendly as the Serbs who went there... and even they both got along.

I realise that politics is important, and it obviously dictates the way in which people live. But people in the Balkans let nationalist politics get in the way of the progression of their own economies, their lives and the way in which they get along with other people. It's the same problem in Serbia, as well; I mean, I'm not going to suggest that every Serb on the planet has a paranoia of Croats and Albanians. So, all the people in the former Yugoslavia should simply be segregated, and prevented from interacting with one another? In the end, politics is politics, but people's interest in it has basically made everyone suspicious of one another, simply 'cause of their ethnicity. That's how you end up with pointless ethnic squabbles from some nationalists from the Balkans in diaporic countries.

Yes, my family were Serbian Jews, so of course I'm going to be inherently biased towards Serbia in issues related to Kosovo and politics in general, but, I'm not a racist. I don't place the life and rights of a Kosovar Albanian below that of a Serb, no way. My main quarrels I have with Kosovo has to do entirely with Hashim Thaci and the criminal-KLA, NOT the people of Kosovo. Hell, I still think that had Ibrahim Rugova controlled everything, things would've been much, MUCH better for both sides...

The main reason I brought up the question as to why this is so important is because, well, it's political. Does this actually make any positive difference in Kosovar's lives? Anyone can tell that Kosovar authorities have sovereignty over pretty much every single Albanian-populated area in Kosovo, and the Kosovar Albanians understand and realise that... but shouldn't you guys be embracing it and actually using it to be HAPPIER instead of worrying about whether some Arab oil giant succumbed to US pressure and recognised your country? That's all I'm asking, really... your own destiny and your own recognition of control and sovereignty is far more important than the recognition of others.

Qatar is a mainly a strategical investor. They know that their wealth depends on oil resources, which will end, eventually. And so they are investing all around the world, buying companies, shares, to have a source to stay wealthy in the after-oil times.
I don't expect them to 'invest' in corrupt, unstable Kosovo, this could at best be considered venture capital, at worst: Pouring money down the drain.

1) This is the first real country since a while. Earlier they admitted to be bribed by Russia - now congratulation to B.P., he outbid his friends. This is a very serious money - Qatar is not Tuvalu. B.P. for the president of YU, Thaçi for the prisoner.

2) Serbia will survive even that recognition. Lucky me, I did not say "thank you" to Qatar few weeks ago as the opposite was the topic. Now Albanians will bow to Qatar they cursed recently.

3) Albanians and Serbs can learn: Arab "friends" are like that. Israel already knows, what you still need to learn: the best argument is the military potential and never display any sign of weakness. The best Arab sheikh / mullah / bollah butt is the kicked one, regardless do they recognize Kosovo or not.

Why does it matter?
One reason is that Qatar is one of the wealthiest countries in the world and a major investor. For comparison purposes, note that Qatar, with a population of less than 2 million people, has almost twice the Gross Domestic Product of Serbia:

*QATAR*
Nominal GDP: $83.910 billion
GDP per capita: $68,871

*SERBIA*
Nominal GDP: $43.662 billion
GDP per capita: $5,898 (excluding Kosovo)

Actually I don't have a drop of Serbian blood running through my veins, and as I am 'foreign' (which I assume to you does not include Serbian) you can, according to you, trust me on that basis.

But proof rests on proving that something did happen, not that it did not. It is up to you to prove that Marty did receive payment as you claim, which to any logical person is an absurd accusation. Yes China and Russia only have to veto in the Security Council and Kosovo is not in the UN. Ask the Palestinians.

No "mark my words" is a common phraseology of the English language. And I am not elected to represent Albanians in any capacity on any fora, I was just expressing my opinion. There's no need to attribute my opinion to 6 milion Albanians.

As for who's going to pay for this team don't worry about it, there are plenty of Kosovar Albanians playing in the European top leagues. Who's paying for your team? Surely it's not you it's the likes of Manchester United (Vidic) and Chelsea (Ivanovic) to bring two examples.

Unless Russia and China Recognize Independent Kosovo but I dont see that it will happen.
So No China, No Russia=
No UN
(Stevie, 5 January 2011 22:16)

Sure, but that does not mean that Kosovo is not independent. China and Russia's recognition is needed to join the UN; but UN non-membership does not mean that something is not independent.

and NO EU as simple as that.
(Stevie, 5 January 2011 22:16)

Sorry, I'm not aware of any provision in the EU treaties requiring an entity to be a UN member or be recognized by Russia or China to join the EU. Apologies for my ignorance, but it would be great if you could illuminate us where such provision is since it's very simple, as that !

Very Nice, so much for Russian influence after Qatar got the world cup, they did the right thing and recognized an independent Kosova, a real slap in Russia's face!!!

But proof rests on proving that something did happen, not that it did not. It is up to you to prove that Marty did receive payment as you claim, which to any logical person is an absurd accusation. As I said previously, he is not the only person to have raised this issue. There have been, and will be, many others.
(kate, 5 January 2011 15:42)
Excellent comment, I do not buy into Serbia paid money to Marty, I do not know his reasoning for his report, as his mandate was to investigate and see if there is proof of del Pontes allegations, he brought no proof but only made the same and some new allegations without the proof.
Now I refer you to why I said excellent post. "Proof rests on proving something did happen, not that it did not"
Anyone can say anything but that is not proof, all the world is asking is "Where is the proof" Which so far is at zilch.
As far as being "foreign" I have often wondered why you have a total Love for the Serbian prospective and total bias against the Albanian.
Everyone has a reason for their position especially if it is as outspoken and totally one direction as yours.
I too am foreign and am not Serbian, nor Albanian, by blood or marriage. My passion comes from working and living in Kosovo for 3 years, I consider it an investment of my life and I want the best for the people in Kosovo nothing more nothing less.

"Fascist" is more precise definition - see here:

Fascism is indeed a nightmare - but with very sober awakening.
(Je¿ faszystski, 6 January 2011)

Thanks but I'm a staunch atheist and I don't pay much attention to what old men with long beards and funny clothes and ridiculous hats have to say. If I saw him roaming the streets of NYC I'd think he's some homeless guy who's gone mad.

How far has Kosovo’s moved since 1999? Not a millimeter – so why are we going to worry as we will keep you in that situations for ever boys. I think you have your dreams and nightmares mixed up. More pain on the way in 2011.
(sj, 6 January 2011)

As for how far we've moved since 1999, how about declaring independence for starters and getting rid of your kind forever. That's pretty big in my book.

Hell, I still think that had Ibrahim Rugova controlled everything, things would've been much, MUCH better for both sides...

...(Ari Gold, 6 January 2011 04:13)

You had the chance to work with Rugova for 17 years 1990-2007,and you choose to ignore or humiliate him, every chanse you had fisrt Milosevic and latter Kustunica.K-Alb elected Rugova till his death, and what did serbs?Nothing!Just kill his associase Agani, humiliate Rugova's family and ignore the elephant in the middle of the room.
Now that Rugova is dead you suddenly want him back in power?

I mark your words. Is this a new phraseology you Albanians have adopted “mark my words”?
Who is going to pay for this fantastic football team? Are you going to sell more goats on the “stock” exchange? Dream on boys just keep on dreaming – 2011 nothing changes for Kosovo; status quo.
(sj, 6 January 2011)

No "mark my words" is a common phraseology of the English language. And I am not elected to represent Albanians in any capacity on any fora, I was just expressing my opinion. There's no need to attribute my opinion to 6 milion Albanians.

As for who's going to pay for this team don't worry about it, there are plenty of Kosovar Albanians playing in the European top leagues. Who's paying for your team? Surely it's not you it's the likes of Manchester United (Vidic) and Chelsea (Ivanovic) to bring two examples.

As for our dreams what can you do? We are a dreamy people but unlike you Serbs most of our dreams (your nightmares) come true.
