Serb, Croat leaders receive death threats

Republic of Srpska (RS) President Milorad Dodik and Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ) in Bosnia leader Dragan Čović have received anonymous death threats.

Republic of Srpska (RS) President Milorad Dodik and Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ) in Bosnia leader Dragan Covic have received anonymous death threats. According to Banja Luka-based daily Glas Srpske, the threats were sent to their respective party headquarters in Banja Luka and Mostar. Serb, Croat leaders receive death threats “Certain death to Dodik and Covic. Fascists will be killed as soon as possible. The biggest fascists of all time for Bosnia-Herzegovina and the Bosniak (Muslim) people,” reads the threat letter signed by the Patriotic Front of Bosnia-Herzegovina. The daily writes that threats were faxed to Dodik’s Independent Union of Social Democrats (SNSD) on November 8. The same threat came to the HDZ headquarters in Mostar and according to the postal stamp the letter was sent from the town of Lukavac. Names of SNSD high officials Nebojsa Radmanovic, Nikola Spiric, Milica Markovic and Dusanka Majkic are also mentioned in the threat letter. “It used to be 'Always Srpska and Bosnia-Herzegovina if necessary', and now it is 'Never Srpska, eternal Bosnia-Herzegovina'. We will be waiting in ambush for you around Sarajevo, on the roads between Banja Luka and Belgrade, on all roads to Banja Luka, at the border with Serbia, as well as in Belgrade where you go to get your opinion. War against Dodiks and Covics is urgent…,” the death threats read. The letters also contain scanned photographs of Covic and Dodik, while face of a third person “sentenced to death” is unrecognizable. It also shows a picture of the WWII Jasenovac Memorial and says “Only these kind of traces remain after such fascists”. Jasenovac was a death camp set up by the puppet Nazi Croatian state (NDH), the site of mass slaughter od Serbs, Jews and Romas. The Patriotic Front of Bosnia-Herzegovina threatens to kill Covic, too. “If the court won’t put you on trial, we have already convicted you – urgent death for Covic“. The threats were reported to the authorities and Police Director Gojko Vasic said that all necessary security measures to protect people and buildings had been taken. Bosnia's State Investigation and Protection Agency (SIPA) said they too were taking all measures within their jurisdiction regarding the case. The post 1992-95 Bosnia-Herzegovina is made up of the Republic of Srpska (RS), and the Muslim-Croat Federation.
