The Serbian National Council in Kosovo congratulated President Boris Tadic on his election victory. The Council (SNV) stated that it was content that the voting process was conducted “in a fair and correct atmosphere.“ Kosovo Serb Council congratulates Tadic “Serbia showed in the elections that its democracy has matured and that the majority of the Serbian people supports a European path. Serbia also expects that along with respecting European values, its legitimate rights in accordance with international law, on soveriegnty and territorial integrity, will be respected,“ the SNV statement reads. SNV also commended the minority vote which helped push Serbia towards its European path, but also its dissappointment with the Albanian minority for not participating, stating that Albanians “clearly showed that they are against European integration and that they are working hard on the disintegration of Serbia and the entire region.“ “Taking into consideration the relations and stance of the Albanian community, which is endangering the European path of many people in this part of Europe, SNC expects a change in the politics of the West towards the solving of the problem of the Albanian minority community in Serbia and the process of solving the Kosovo status question,“ the statement concludes. SNV states that the change in the politics of the West would enable a compromise solution for the Kosovo status question and guarantee stability in the region.
