Zvecan police chief Nenad Djuric was suspended on Friday after he refused to ban the movement of vehicles with new Serbian license plates. The Interior Ministry (MUP) started issuing the new plates at the beginning of the year. Kosovo town police chief suspended over plates Kontakt Plus radio in Kosovska Mitrovica reported that Djuric was suspended by Kosovo Police Service (KPS) Regional Director Sami Sabanaj. This is the first instance of a Serb KPS member failing to follow the order issued by Kosovo's outgoing Interior Minister Bajram Redzepi, said reports. The contentious order states that the new license plates issued by the MUP for towns in Kosovo should be confiscated and the case turned over to the competent authorities.

Kontakt Plus radio in Kosovska Mitrovica reported that Đurić was suspended by Kosovo Police Service (KPS) Regional Director Sami Sabanaj.This is the first instance of a Serb KPS member failing to follow the order issued by Kosovo's outgoing Interior Minister Bajram Redzepi, said reports.
The contentious order states that the new license plates issued by the MUP for towns in Kosovo should be confiscated and the case turned over to the competent authorities.
