Serbian PM "warned EU" ahead of game in Belgrade

"The goal of Albanian extremists was to present Serbia as a country intolerant toward differences and to humiliate all its citizens," he told the daily Večernje Novosti, in an interview that will be published on Thursday.

Commenting on the incident caused by Albanian extremists who flew a small unmanned vehicle with a map of Greater Albania above the pitch, he said:

"They wanted to trample on our pride, but we kept face, and showed a gang of fake Albanian officials in the VIP lounge a clear difference between us and them. The state will undertake all legally envisaged measures to punish all perpetrators found of committing criminal acts."

The Serbian prime minister added that he was "still waiting for the official position of Brussels about this unheard of, politically inspired incident."

"I await the reaction of the European Union whose representatives here I informed three hours before the game that Albanians were preparing provocations and a grave incident," said he.
