Serbian Deputy PM and Interior Minister Ivica Dačić stated Friday in Novi Sad that Serbia was doing its best to prevent false asylum seekers from going abroad.

Serbian Deputy PM and Interior Minister Ivica Dacic stated Friday in Novi Sad that Serbia was doing its best to prevent false asylum seekers from going abroad. He noted that the EU should be more actively involved in solving of this problem, noting that the Norwegian model had proven to be the most efficient in this respect. Deputy PM: Number of false asylum seekers decreases “The government in Oslo has declared Serbia a country where there is no political persecution, and therefore no reason for any of its citizens to seek political asylum in Norway,” he explained. The Serbian deputy prime minister underlined that Serbia had stepped up control at border crossings, main routes and Nikola Tesla Airport, from which a family with only EUR 100 and a one-way ticket to Sweden, was returned. “The number of false asylum seekers is rapidly declining,” he observed.
