No "insignia or anthem" for taekwondo athletes from Kosovo

However, the taekwondo association of Kosovo, and a number of other sports associations from the province have been officially recognized, therefore competitors from Kosovo have the right to take part in international tournaments.

Dragan Jovic, a member of the technical commission of the Taekwondo Association of Serbia (TOS), told B92 that this organization "must act on the instruction received from the state, while organizers must make sure to have a highest-level competition."

"There will be no markings of Kosovo, the anthem will not be sounded. We have been surprised by this situation and I see the association is looking for a way out," he said.

The posting on the sporting event's website of the flag of the self-proclaimed state of Kosovo also caused great controversy.

Jovic said this image has in the meantime been removed, and added that the person responsible for posting it is "a programmer, a technical person," while the situation was the result of "omissions made in (disseminating) information related to this."

The competition will be held on December 5 and 6.
