Vučić revealed on Thursday that the letter concerned the arrest of Oliver Ivanović.

"We have received the letter, and you could see that detailed information about the case is coming from EULEX," said Maja Kocijačič.

She added that the EU high representative has full confidence in the EU mission in Kosovo. The spokesperson noted that Ivanović has the right to appeal against the detention order and that he used that right.

Vučić told reporters yesterday that the letter requested clarification from Ashton concerning the case. Ivanović was arrested earlier this week on suspicion that he in 1999 and 2000 participated in war crimes against Kosovo Albanians.

Vučić said that it was very important for the peace and stability and mutual trust that Ivanović be released and called on Ashton to get involved in solving the problem.

Ivanović is a candidate for mayor in the upcoming municipal elections in northern Kosovska Mitrovica.
