There, he will attend a ministerial conference of the Organization of American States (OAS), with the goal of "preventing the announced group recognition of Kosovo and Metohija's independence", Tanjug learned at the Foreign Ministry.

Jeremić will attend the conference in an effort to prevent the planned wave of recognitions, with the main pressure on Latin American states to recognize Kosovo coming from the United States and United Kingdom, the ministry's sources were quoted as saying.

"The pressure is being imposed on the states of Latin and Central Americas following the failed attempt of recognitions at the Organization of the Islamic Conference in Damascus. The plan is to have a dozen countries declare their recognition of the self-proclaimed independence of Kosovo and Metohija," the sources said.
