The officers – a Serb, an Albanian, and a Bosniak – were injured when two Albanians attacked them in the Bošnjačka Mahala neighborhood.

Local police chief Milija Milošević told Beta news agency that the officers came under attack as they conducted regular vehicle control in the area.

"Policemen were suddenly attacked by Albanians who were inside a car, first verbally, and then physically," Milošević said.

The assailants were arrested, while policemen received treatment in a local healthcare center.

Although the northern part of ethnically divided Kosovska Mitrovica is Serb-dominated, Albanians and Bosniaks live in Bošnjačka Mahala. There are no Serbs in the southern, Albanian part of the town.
