BELGRADE The Special Court in Belgrade ordered that Dragan Djuric released from custody on Thursday after he posted a bail of EUr 2mn "by raising a mortgage." Djuric is the owner of the Zekstra textile company and president of the Partizan football club. Partizan FC president and Zekstra owner free on bail Dusica Ristic, a spokesperson of the court, told Tanjug on Thursday that the Court has received a verification that the mortgage has been registered and a notice was sent to the District Court to release Djuric. Djurich was arrested on January 13, and he was put in custody in order to be prevented from fleeing, but was allowed a release on bail. The Organized Crime Prosecutor's Office launched an investigation against Djuric in connection with the privatization of the Veterinary Institute on suspicion that he abused the position of a responsible person. The Veterinary Institute was privatized in 2005 when it was purchased by the Zekstra company and the criminal charges were pressed against the owner of that company on December 27, 2013. Djuric is suspected of obtaining an unlawful gain of over RSD 207 million for the consortium of legal entities Zektra (LLC) and Bankom (LLC) in the privatization process, the prosecution stated in a release. The privatization of the Veterinary Institute is one of the 24 dubious privatizations on the Anti-Corruption Council's list. (StarSport, file) Tanjug
