The war crimes trial of former Bosnian Serb General Zdravko Tolimir opens at the Hague Tribunal today. Tolimir, 61, is accused of committing genocide, war crimes, and crimes against humanity between July and November 1995 related to the massacres of Bosnian Muslims in the towns of Srebrenica and Zepa. Former B. Serb general goes on trial His indictment says he supervised a unit that "summarily executed more than 1,700 Muslims" after Bosnian Serb forces seized the UN-declared safe zone of Srebrenica, and that he was involved in the murder of other Muslim prisoners. He is the last suspect in the custody of the United Nations' Yugoslav war crimes tribunal to go on trial.
