BELGRADE The Higher Public Prosecutor's Office in Belgrade has launched pre-trial proceedings against the deputy leader of the Serb Radical Party (SRS). The party said on Monday that Nemanja Sarovic, a former MP, was facing criminal charges for his alleged involvement "in setting flags of the United States, the EU and NATO on fire". Criminal proceedings launched over flag burning The flags were burned as a form of protest, during a gathering last November in the wake of the Hague Tribunal's decision to acquit Kosovo Albanian Ramush Haradinaj, who was charged with committing war crimes against Serbs. Along with Saric, Aleksandar Drazic, a member of the SRS presidential collegium, faces the same proceedings. Sarovic and Drazic have been summoned to a police hearing on February 20. Along with Šarić, Aleksandar Dražić, a member of the SRS presidential collegium, faces the same proceedings.
