Sao Tome and Principe has rescinded its recognition of the unilateral declaration of independence of Kosovo, according to reports.

PRISTINA Sao Tome and Principe has rescinded its recognition of the unilateral declaration of independence of Kosovo, according to reports. The Pristina-based Albanian language daily Koha Ditore is writing that the president of the African country, Manuel Pinto da Costa, decided to annul the decision to recognize Kosovo made by the previous government in March 2012. The reason for this, the newspaper said, were "problems that the then government had with (securing) a parliamentary majority". At the time, Behgjet Pacolli, deputy PM of the government in Pristina, announced that Sao Tome and Principe "recognized Kosovo" three months before this country announced the decision. Commenting on the news that the recognition had been rescinded, Pacolli's advisor Jetlir Zuberaj stated that the recognition "stands", while the government of Kosovo "does not comment on internal developments in that country".
