WASHINGTON Serbian Progressive Party (SNS) acting leader Aleksandar Vucic said on Friday that difficult time and hard work were ahead of Serbia. He added after meetings at the U.S. Department of State that the new government would have to be willing to do a lot of things that were not very popular. Hard work ahead of Serbia, SNS acting leader says After the end of his meetings with U.S. officials, he told Tanjug in Washington that it was important for Serbia to move forward on the European path and that the country count on the support of the U.S. in doing so. “We will put up the strongest possible fight against organized crime and corruption and I am confident that we will have the support of America in that as well,” said Vucic. The SNS acting leader said that Kosovo had also been discussed and that Serbia would have difficult time resolving the issue. “I asked from the officials I talked with to consider how and in what manner could a long-term resolution of the unemployment problem begin through investments rather than through grants, as these would be spent immediately,” he noted. He stressed that Serbia could hardly emerge out of the crisis if the new government failed to do everything that needed to be done. After having been told he did not look optimistic after the meetings, Vucic said that he had no reason to be smiling. “Nothing looks funny to me and I see no big reason to be smiling. It is important for us to do everything in our power to ensure Serbia's progress,” he explained.
