German Ambassador Wolfram Maas says recognizing Kosovo is not a condition for Serbia's EU integration. He also noted that good neighborly cooperation in the region was. Good relations condition for EU "It must be said openly that good neighborly cooperation in the region is one of the important elements envisaged by the Copenhagen criteria," he told Novi Sad daily Dnevnik. "This condition must be met by all states that aplly to be a member of the European family," said he. Maas added that it cannot be accepted for the dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina to be delayed for any reason, since there are many unsolved issues in Kosovo that burden the lives of people. "It is understandable that due to the announced elections (in Kosovo) it is not realistic to receive decisive answers in a relatively short amount of time, but the opening of the process of searching for those answers cannot suffer delays," said the ambassador. He also advised the Serbian government to do all it can to arrest the remaining to Hague fugitives so that it can fulfill that remaining condition for approaching the EU.
