If Kosovo declares independence, the OSCE office in Pristina will have to shut, says Aleksey Borodavkin. “If, in spite of the categorical opposition of Serbia, Russia and many other countries, Pristina goes through with a declaration of independence, the OSCE mission will definitely have to be shut,” Russia’s OSCE envoy told Moscow’s Vreme Novosti. "OSCE Kosovo mission to shut if independence declared" Borodavkin said that, bearing this possibility in mind, a decision had been taken on Serbia and Russia’s request for the OSCE mission to Kosovo to operate on a monthly, as opposed to annual, mandate. A proposal for the OSCE to continue its work in some form after a unilateral declaration of independence would be considered if and when the time comes, he added.
