“Ruling parties agree on Serbia’s priorities”

Serbia’s Deputy PM Aleksandar Vučić said Wednesday that leaders of the ruling parties agreed that Serbia was determined to continue the EU intergation process.

BELGRADE Serbia’s Deputy PM Aleksandar Vucic said Wednesday that leaders of the ruling parties agreed that Serbia was determined to continue the EU intergation process. Vucic, a Serbian Progressive Party (SNS) leader, Socialist Party of Serbia (SPS) leader Ivica Dacic and United Regions of Serbia (URS) leader Mladjan Dinkic held a meeting on Tuesday. “Ruling parties agree on Serbia’s priorities” The first deputy PM said that all interlocutors agreed at the meeting that Serbia was committed to the continuation of the European integrations, combat against corruption and economic recovery of the country. Vucic said that he had never mentioned recomposition of the local self-governments but that he believed that it was logical to “respect the fact that the SNS achieved the best result in very difficult circumstances”. He stressed that he would not answer questions about the change of the Belgrade authorities and added that the public would be informed if it ever happened. Vucic expressed belief that Serbia would stay on the EU pathway and that it would get a date for the beginning of the EU accession talks in June. “Our goal is to have peace and stability. In that sense, we are acting responsibly and I am convinced that we will continue with such behavior in the future. I am also convinced that Serbia is on the EU pathway and that we will get a date in June. This is one of the things that are very important to us in a security sense as well,” he told reporters.
