KFOR Commander General Erhard Drews is concerned about Kosovo Prime Minister Hashim Thaci's announcements that he will send Kosovo judges to northern Kosovo. The German general believes this could lead to serious unrests. KFOR concerned “over Thaci’s announcements” In a statement for the Austrian journalists, Drews assessed that Serbs would not accept that Kosovo judges be brought to northern Kosovo as Thaci announced after the meeting with Austrian Defense Minister Norbert Darabos in Pristina Tuesday. “This could create far more serious unrests,” Drews was quoted as saying by Vienna-based daily Die Presse. The KFOR commander believes that recent incident at the Jarinje administrative crossing was caused by a small group of masked violators, prepared for violence. “When they arrived, the other peaceful demonstrators withdrew. The events at Jarinje show how important illegal flows of goods were for Serbs,” Drews explained. He does not expect the situation in northern Kosovo will quickly defuse. Together with his deputy Brigadier Johan Luif, the KFOR commander talked about the cat-and-mouse game that Serbs were playing with KFOR, in which the international forces did not want to get involved in. “Of course we can remove the barricades, but they would set up new ones immediately,” Drews said. KFOR, as he said, must act only in cases of acute threat to security. Erhard Drews and Kosovo President Atifete Jahjaga
