“Local elections cannot be held in Kosovo”

Kosovo President Atifete Jahjaga said on Tuesday that Serbia's local elections would not be held in Kosovo. She added that Kosovo would adhere to international conventions on dual citizenship. “Local elections cannot be held in Kosovo” Jahjaga underlined that Serbia's local elections could not be held in Kosovo since they would question Kosovo's territorial integrity. “The institutions of the Republic of Kosovo recognize the international standard, according to which citizens with dual citizenship have the right to vote in the general elections, and will adhere to it,” her office announced. Earlier on Tuesday, Jahjaga had talks with OSCE Secretary General Lamberto Zannier, which focused on the current situation in Kosovo and the organization's further engagement in the field of democratization and security.
