Dutch right-wing politician and Freedom Party leader Geert Wilders will do everything to block Serbia’s further progress toward the EU, a Belgrade daily writes. Danas newspaper claims that Wilders' motives in doing so are “different than those of other (Dutch) politicians”, and that the parties which are likely to form Holland's next government “will use him as an excuse”. Dutch right-wingers “against Serbia in EU” “The trauma called Srebrenica is rooted in the Dutch parties and regardless of who takes over they won’t consent to the unfreezing of the Stabilization and Association Agreement (SAA) with the EU until war criminals are arrested,” Dutch analyst Johan van Merrienboer was quoted in the article. According to him, it remains unclear which parties will form the government considering the Liberals' tight victory in the parliamentary elections which were held on Wednesday. Merrienboer saidthat there are three possible scenarios but that it is most likely that the Liberal Party will create a coalition with Wilders’ Freedom Party and the Christian Democrats. The Dutch analyst stressed, however, that this option was most likely to happen provided that Wilders, who was a Liberal MP from 1998 until 2004, stoped advocating “numerous controversial stances”.
