Speaker Slavica Djukic-Dejanovic says the law on parliament will most probably be on the agenda of the first day of the regular fall session. The goal of this legislation is to improve parliament’s functioning, she said, adding that it would "regulate the manner of parliament’s funding and place it in the hands of MPs." "Law on Parliament on fall agenda" "We believe that we, the MPs, should be authorized to implement law, and not just pass laws. And we also believe that the distribution of finances, which must be accessible to the public, should be within the remit of parliament, and not the government," Djukic-Dejanovic said in a statement for Belgrade daily Blic, published on Tuesday. As regards immunity and mandates, the speaker said these could be governed by other laws, such as the law on elections. "The draft law has yet to be completed, but the working group is almost there,” she said. Slavica Djukic Dejanovic (FoNet, archive)
