Supreme Court (VSS) President Vida Petrovic-Skero says that the authorities will look into conflict of interests claims concerning the justice minister and RIK. Petrovic-Skero told B92 that she had warned parliament that, by law, judges cannot occupy two paid positions at the same time and that the Republic Electoral Commission (RIK) Chairman Sonja Brkic should not be in that position, because she was a Supreme Court judge as well. These commissions erode the authority of judges, and these decisions are subject to court control,” the VSS president explained. “It can happen, and it happens very frequently, that different decisions are taken by the court related to the Electoral Commission, and then they say—yes, but the judge is a member of the Electoral Commission.
