The head of the EC Directorate-General for Enlargement chief says Montenegro formally has enough time before the end of April to achieve measurable results. Those results concern improving the rule of law and cracking down on corruption, Stefano Sannino was quoted as saying on Tuesday. Montenegro "has time to achieve measurable results" Sannino met with Montenegrin Deputy Prime Minister Dusko Markovic in Podgorica, with whom he agreed during the meeting that constitutional changes "are of essential importance to Montenegro's continued European integration" because they require "strengthening the independence of the judiciary and eliminating political and other influences on the actions" of judges and prosecutors, the Ministry of Justice said. According to the statement, carried by Beta news agency, Sannino also lauded Montenegro's results "in affirming and protecting human rights" especially the rights of the displaced, handicapped, Roma and Egyptians, persons of different sexual orientation and the rights of women.
