Croatia issued an international warrant for the arrest of Ivo Sanader, and Austrian police acted on it, arresting the former Croatian PM this Friday. Reports earlier in the day said that Croatian police were searching his home in Zagreb. Ex-Croat PM arrested in Austria Sanader left the country on Thursday, hours before he was stripped of immunity from prosecution he enjoyed as MP. He is charged with abusing his official position and powers. It is widely believed that Sanader is suspected of involvement in corruption scandals, but details remain unknown. On Thursday, while the former prime minister was reported to be in Slovenia, a Zagreb court ordered Sanader's arrest. Sanader's current whereabouts are unknown, with media mentioning Slovenia, Britain, and the United States. His close associates were quoted as saying today that he will return to Croatia on Friday afternoon or evening, "in order to prove that he is not running away from the laws adopted by a majority with him at the helm".
