Serbia's EU integration and a dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina are the main topics of bilateral meeting of Serbia's delegation in New York. President Boris Tadic met on Tuesday with EC President Jose Manuel Barrose and will also speak with the Belgian PM, and the NATO secretary-general. EU and dialogue on Kosovo top agenda The message from Brussels is that cooperation with the Hague Tribunal remains the main condition for Serbia's further progress toward the EU. n EU enlargement commissioner's spokes woman said that this was the main message during Stefan Fuele's recent trip to Belgrade. Angela Filote also said that EU member states could reach consensus in October on forwarding Serbia's candidate status application to the European Commission, but said that the decision must be made by the Council of the EU. She denied that while in Belgrade, Fuele handed over to the Serbian officials a framework for the dialogue with the Kosovo Albanian side, and said this was in the jurisdiction of the EU foreign policy chief. Meanwhile, leader of the ruling SPS, inerior minister and first deputy PM, Ivica Dacic, addressed a party gathering in Belgrade late on Tuesday to say that Serbia should pursue a policy which will not place the country in a situation in which it will have to choose between the European Union (EU) and Kosovo, and added that such a policy requires that the largest political parties reach an agreement. These days, there are those who support Serbia joining the EU no matter what, and those who are equally fervent in their stand against it, Dacic said and added that both concepts are wrong. He also stated that Serbia should find common interests with the leading countries in the international community, which means both those that nurture friendly relations with Serbia and those that are hostile to it.

The message from Brussels is that cooperation with the Hague Tribunal remains the main condition for Serbia's further progress toward the EU.
