Deputy PM Bozidar Djelic says the acquittal of the former commander of Bosnian Muslim forces Naser Oric is “a black day for international justice.” “Video evidence and testimonies exist that incriminate Oric, so that this new ruling, just as in the case of former Kosovo Liberation Army Commander Ramush Haradinaj, seriously undermines the credibility of the Hague Tribunal as an international judicial instance,“ Djelic told Serbian International Radio. Oric verdict "black day for international justice” The minister said that it was very important for that and similar cases to be re-tried, and for the criminals to be punished, so that Serbian citizens could accept the Hague Tribunal as a legitimate international legal institution that served justice. He confirmed that Serbia would meet its commitments to the Hague, adding that he was sure that the Tribunal would launch proceedings against all those of whose guilt proof existed. The Hague Tribunal Appeals Chamber yesterday acquitted Oric of crimes against Serbs in Srebrenica in 1992-93. In so doing, the Appeals Chamber overturned the first-instance verdict of summer 2006 which found the defendant guilty of failing to prevent crimes being committed against Serbs, for which he received a two-year prison term.
