DS wins in three municipalities

The Democratic Party (DS) has won the most votes in repeated local elections in Ruma, Knjazevac, Prijepolje and Vrnjacka Banja, according to unofficial data. The still unofficial results show that the DS won the most mandates for the local assemblies in Ruma, Knjazevac, and Vrnjacka Banja, while the Sandzak Democratic Party won easily in Prijepolje. DS wins in three municipalities Elections in these four municipalities were repeated because local governments were not formed after the May elections in the legally allotted post-election period. “For a European Ruma-Boris Tadic” ticket won the most votes in Ruma, with “Forward Serbia-Tomislav Nikolic" finishing in second. Nikolic's party took 17.66 percent of the vote—eight mandates—while the Democratic Party of Serbia-New Serbia (DSS-NS) coalition took 12.9 percent, or six seats. The Serb Radical Party (SRS) won 8.23 percent of the vote, which gives them four seats, while the SPS-PUPS coalition took away 6.23 percent, or three mandates. The other coalition to receive mandates, two of them, was the LDP-United Peasant Party coalition, which received 5.58 percent of the vote. Despite tension between the SRS supports and supporters of former party deputy Tomislav Nikolic’s SNS in Ruma, there were no incidents reported during the voting process. In Prijepolje, the Sandzak Democratic Party (SDP) of Rasim Ljajic won 27.6 percent of the vote according to current data, leading all parties significantly in the municipality. According to FoNet news agency, Election Commission President in Prijepolje Hanka Hajdarevic stated that the Democratic Party of Sandzak took 12. 55 percent of the vote, the “Together for a Better Prijepolje” coalition (DS, SPS, G17 plus, SPO) 14.56 percent, Forward Serbia 16 percent, and the Bosniak List for a European Sandzak 5.5 percent. DSS-NS gained 7.5 percent of the vote, the Radicals took 6 percent and LDP 6.3 percent. DS-G17 plus emerged victorious in Knjazevac along with the Coalition for Zajecar-Bosko Nicic, while the SRS did not even pass the census with under five percent of the vote. DS-G17 plus received 11 mandates in the local parliament, the same as Zajecar-Bosko Nicic, Election Commission President Ivica Comic told Tanjug. Nikolic’s Forward Serbia won eight mandates, SPS won five and DSS took away three. LDP received two seats while the SPO-NS local coalition and SRS did not pass the census. In Vrnjacka Banja, 60 percent of registered voters participated in the election. According to early data of the Democratic Party, the coalition “For a European Vrnjacka Banja was victorious, with more than 32 percent of the vote. SNS took 15 percent and New Serbia trailed it slightly with 12 percent of the vote, according to the first unofficial statistics.

Nikolić's party took 17.66 percent of the vote—eight mandates—while the Democratic Party of Serbia-New Serbia (DSS-NS) coalition took 12.9 percent, or six seats.

The Serb Radical Party (SRS) won 8.23 percent of the vote, which gives them four seats, while the SPS-PUPS coalition took away 6.23 percent, or three mandates.

DS-G17 plus received 11 mandates in the local parliament, the same as Zaječar-Boško Ničić, Election Commission President Ivica Comić told Tanjug.

Nikolić’s Forward Serbia won eight mandates, SPS won five and DSS took away three.
