EU's Ashton pleased with repeated elections The EU is pleased to see that the preliminary results from northern Kosovska Mitrovica are coming in, although the whole picture concerning the outcome of the elections is not there yet, she told reporters ahead of a meeting of the EU foreign ministers in Brussels on Monday, adding that there had been no incidents at the vote. It is an important stage on Serbia's and Kosovo's road to the EU, she stressed. Ashton is expected to inform the ministers in brief on Monday about the local elections in Kosovo, whose second round is set for December 1, but since the election process has not completed yet, the ministers will not discuss the issue on Monday. Most of the two-day ministerial meeting will be dedicated to the situation in Syria, chances of success in the negotiations on the Iranian nuclear program and the situation in Bosnia-Herzegovina, both general and in terms of refugees. Regarding Serbia's EU integration, the key meeting will take place in mid-December, ahead of the European summit on December 20. The ministers should then agree on a draft platform for the talks with Serbia and a proposal for a date for the first intergovernmental conference, which means the formal start of the talks.
