BELGRADE Serbian Energy Minister Zorana Mihajlovic says that energy resources should be discussed in the Belgrade-Pristina negotiations with the EU mediation. “What I can say now is that we want to discuss everything. We will not only talk about relations in transmission networks and whether there is electric energy in northern Kosovo or not, we want to talk about natural resources too,” she underscored. "Belgrade, Pristina should discuss energy recourses" Mihajlovic said that Kosovo had “second largest coal reserves in Europe”, which was “an enormous natural resource that we need to agree on, of course with the presence of international institution and European Commission”. She noted that technical talks on energy issues had in a way already started and that the Serbian delegation had been to Brussels twice. “Kosovo representatives did not come to the first meeting and only basic starting points that referred to the fact that we should start the talks were presented at the second meeting,” the minister explained. She added that she expected that energy and telecommunications issues would be discussed in the technical negotiations this year and that the Energy Ministry’s working group was preparing foundations of a possible strategy for energy negotiations. “The negotiating positions do not refer only to existing energy facilities but also to stances regarding natural resources in Kosovo because that is out future,” Mihajlovic concluded.
