Serbian police (MUP) have arrested two Serbian citizens for attempting to illegally transfer 74 Afghans and Pakistanis across the country's borders. A police statement said in Belgrade on Tuesday that Dusan R. and Milomir S. were arrested near Belgrade, when a check of their truck revealed they were transporting 64 citizens of Afghanistan and nine Pakistanis. 74 illegal immigrants found in truck near Belgrade Police believe that the foreign nationals avoided regular border control by entering Serbia from Macedonia, on their way to western Europe. They carried no travel documents or valid visas, said the statement. The pair of suspects arrested today will face criminal charges related to smuggling and illegal crossing of the state border, while the illegal immigrants from southern Asia will be charged with illegally entering the territory of Serbia, which is a misdemeanor offense.
