Bosniak list MP and Bosniak National Council Executive Committee Chairman Esad Dzudzevic has suspended his office. He has informed Serbian parliament Speaker Slavica Djukic-Dejanovic that as of Thursday he will not actively participate in the work of the Serbian parliament. MP "suspends office" after incident “I would like to inform you that as of today I will not actively participate in the work of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia, and that I will suspend myself from my duties as MP of the Bosniak Democratic Party of Sandzak until further notice,” Dzudzevic wrote in a letter to the parliament speaker. Citing the reasons for his decision, he said that unknown persons had cut all four tires on his official vehicle, a Bosniak National Council car he had been using for nine years. Dzudzevic said that the incident happened despite the fact that the car was clearly flagged as an official vehicle. “I consider this act to be an open threat and the government's response to my insistence on the respect of constitutional and legal rights and freedoms of Bosniaks in Serbia,“ he noted. Dzudzevic recalled that he had addressed this issue several times. “I expect that you will do all in your power to safeguard the constitutional and human rights of the Bosniak national community in Serbia, as well as that you will insist that those who have ordered and carried out this attack on my integrity and compromised my security in Belgrade be brought to justice,” he pointed out. Djukic-Dejanovic sent a letter Thursday to the Serbian government and Interior Minister Ivica Dacic, asking the competent bodies to find the people who slashed the tires on Dzudzevic’s car. The speaker told reporters that the letter expressed her belief the police would quickly find the perpetrators and take the necessary legal steps. Esad Dzudzevic (FoNet, file)
