Azerbaijan is "closest ally in Muslim world"

Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev will visit Serbia in June, Serbian and Azerbaijani FMs Vuk Jeremic and Elmar Mammadyarov announced in Belgrade on Tuesday. Jeremic told journalists that a large number of bilateral agreements were expected to be signed during the visit, Beta news agency reported. Azerbaijan is "closest ally in Muslim world" Jeremic and Mammadyarov said that bilateral cooperation between the two countries was exceptional and without open political issues, but they added that there was great potential to improve economic and cultural cooperation. The Azerbaijani foreign minister recalled that six agreements were signed during President Boris TadiC's visit to Azerbaijan in 2010, and that talks on another 20 bilateral agreements were in progress. "We also discussed holding a business forum on the margins of Aliyev's visit," said Mammadyarov. Jeremic said that Azerbaijan was Serbia's "closest ally" among Muslim countries and that Azerbaijan's support of Serbia's efforts to maintain its territorial integrity was "invaluable". Mammadyarov said the two countries shared common views on major issues of the concept of international law, in terms of preserving the sovereignty and territorial integrity. The two ministers opened an Azerbaijani room in the building of the Serbian Foreign Ministry in Belgrade, a donation to Serbia “in the name of brotherly relations”.
